Movies in the Park coming to John A. White Park

ATLANTA –Atlanta City Councilmember Keisha Lance Bottoms has teamed up with the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs for Movies in the Park on Saturday, August 13 at John A. White Park.

The community is invited to bring folding chairs, blankets and snacks to John A. White Park (ball field) to watch “The Karate Kid” under the stars. The movie starts at 8:00 p.m. All park rules apply.

“We are accustomed to having to travel outside of our community for family fun and entertainment. I am grateful that I’ve been able to keep the fun right here at home,” said Councilmember Bottoms. “This is a great time for us to fellowship as a community and enjoy the beautiful resources, like John A White Park, that we have in our own backyard.”

“The Karate Kid” is a 2010 American martial arts remake of the 1984 film by the same name. The film stars Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. The plot involves a 12-year-old boy from Detroit who moves to China with his mother and runs afoul of the neighborhood bully. He makes an unlikely ally in the form of his aging maintenance man, Mr. Han, a kung fu master who teaches him the secrets to self-defense.
